Default Add A Generator to a 2800

I have a 98--2800.
I have a portable 2000watt genny I pack around but I'm toying with the idea of mounting a 3-4000watt in my engine compartment with a remote start.
I presume it would need to be water cooled? Would I need to install another seacock?
How are these generally vented?

Any unit recommendations or further advice is appreciated.

Yes to all three questions.

1. hole in the boat for water cooling pickup.
2. seacock for shut off.
3. exhaust is out the side, but usually above the water line, so there is a odor.
4. gas line from your tank to the unit, and 12 electrical.

as you may know, the new honda's are invertor generator, which provide "clean power" to laptops and flat screens with to flux in mhz.....

plus, your honda is way quieter then the marine units.

If i need a generator, I still with a portable on the bow, as not to sink money into a depreciating boat.

Can't disagree with the idea of sticking with a portable.

Just tired of having to stretch a cord, lug out the genny, pull start the genny and reverse all when done.

Sounds kinda nice to push a button...

you should speak to the marina guys who have to service those gennys that are only run two time a season, as they never work with the button......

I could not think that you would spend somewhere between 10 and 15 thousand for your almost 15 year old boat when the very easy and economical solution to this problem is what you have gotten already with your honda portable.

Look for a different boat:-)
