Default 98 scr 3000 depth guage & alarm

I have purchased this boat used & with most 2nd or 3rd owners the manual does not come with the boat. The guage is it in feet? & ofcourse that is water below the keel. Sometimes it reads stupid high any ideas why. i can understand low values due to weeds but high?? Lastly, what is the alarm programmed to go off at? Is it an audible alarm? How do i know when its on?
Thanks

I posted a similar post a few days ago under electronics. One of the replies included the manual which includes keel offsets. I'll try and post it for you. Mine is 5 years newer. My indash on my old Grady would go stupid when I tried to run 2 depth finders at once. Finally had to turn off the dash depth finder when I had mt Hummingbird fish finder on.
