Default 3300scr props

We have a 3300scr we live on fitted with twin 5.0lt carb engines. We are heavy and always carry lots of people. Not getting WOT with the 19" props. Does anyone have 17" on there Maxum 3300 and does it loose all its speed etc? Thanks for your help!

wouldn't you want to drop the pitch as opposed to the diameter?

Supertech welcome aboard

What drives do you have?

You stated that you are not achieving proper WOT you did not say what you are getting. Dropping from 19" to 17" pitch should give around 400 to 500 rpm increase. You can try Mercruisers prop calculator.

Thanks for your help guys. Ok I have bravo two legs, just after anti foul with only two of us and not a lot of fuel I can get to 4600 rpm. When I load her up and about 6 months after anti foul I only can get about 4100 wot. The motors really struggle. We also live on her full time so always a full boat. I just don't know what to do?

Interested to see what others experiences are ... I'm not much help here; I bought my 03 about a week ago - helmed the same boat when it was new in '04 (bought it from a family friend who bought it new as a leftover in '04), but I didn't do any holeshots, top end runs, or other testing. We had 4 on it for a day and cruised around 3k RPM for most of the day from what I recall. It's got carb'd 5.7s.

Thanks for your response anyway. I hope that someone has this set up and tells me it's the right choice. The boat is fantastic and has been our home for 5 years now. Great live aboard boat for two.

So your initial WOT is in spec. Do you use the boat regularly? Just wondering if you have some bottom growth from the boat sitting too much, this will cost you performance.

We take the boat at at least once or twice a week. It gets anti foul one a year and the legs serviced. We often carry a lot of weight on her and with just a little growth we really loose a lot of performance. That is why I think we need to drop pitch just to help her along. I just hope that 17" is not going to small?

Ok sounds like the bottom should be clean enough not to impact the performance. Bravo 2's swing large diameter props, you can try dropping diameter and or pitch. At some point too much weight cannot be compensated for. 4100 rpm is not that far from the 4400 to 4800 spec.

Ok thanks for all the advice. I think I might try the 17" and see how they go. I will let you know.
