There is no earth ground in a boat.

Are you looking for the common for the 12V or 120V system?

Hi Mike

I thought I need to connect dc (12v) -ve supply to an earthing bus, or to the engine block (-Ve terminal?)?

So I'm looking for the bus.

If that's what you mean by the common then yep.

The 12VDC system uses a common ground. It might be helpful if you simplify this by simply stating what you're trying to install.

Hi Shrew

I'm wanting to install a ProIsoCharge 130 charger.

ProIsoCharge 130 2-4 (part#: 23127) | ProMariner

Wiring diagram in the manual attached

Ah, you are referring to the section which states "To Engine Negative or Bus".

I doubt you have a "Negative Bus Bar" installed on your boat. There is technically a negative bus bar attached on the 12VDC fuse block(s) under the dash, but I wouldn't bother running the charger all the way up there.

You could technically consider the entire common ground system as a giant 'negative bus'. You should be able to tie that into the common ground almost anywhere.

The wiring diagram shows all Positive connections to all Batteries. If all of the batteries negatives are wired together (which I assume they are) then tie this into any negative on any of the batteries.

Thanks mate

So basically if I connect to an existing battery -ve terminal that would work..?

That's what I've done before for the genny battery figuring the earthling was all common.

If all the batteries negativities are tied together that will hooked to the charger then yes.
