Default 3000SCR Electrical Connector

Was Snooping around to hopefully find why some gages were not working. Upon further investigation I found corrosion on a wiring connector. This connector was located behind the kick panel at the helm of my 3000SCR. (1999)
Does anyone know if these connectors can be purchased or is it kind of a "cut and paste" type deal?

Thanks

I doubt you will find the exact connector but you can try Great Lakes Skipper, however you will probably just need to find a similar one. It must have the same contact rating for the wire sizes and you will need to cut off each wire strip them and crimp on the new contacts then insert them into the shells.

Eww, that's a mess. Connectors are pretty generic. If you count the number and size of contacts, you can order them from most any electrical supply house.

Me, I might just butt splice each wire individually.

Judging by that zip tie, the previous owner had some trouble with that connector too.

Thanks all. I think that is what i am going to do. Butt splice them and seal them up real good.

By the way, I have the same boat, same year. I've done a fair amount of pulling panels and finding stuff, so if you have questions, let me know.

Thanks Kevlar7r, but please try to keep all questions and posts in the forum and refrain from soliciting offline advise. This is what enrichens the content and collaboration of a forum. Plus many others can benefit from the same information down the road.

The "Let me know" can be interpreted as person to person, however I did not take it that way.

Others such as Roger have the SCR 3000 and will chime in on help regarding this model. One happy Maxum family

Check Radio Shack. They have tons of that stuff. That is just a standard 'harness-style' connector. They make them of all shapes and sizes. You could use two smaller ones rather than one large one if you needed too. If you go with crimp connection, use 'bullet' style connectors as they can be disconnected. However once disconnected you need to rematch both ends properly again and that will be a pain.

Interesting it would corode like that under the dash. You may want to search for a moisture source. I would consider using heat shrink tubing if you go with crimp plug connections. I would use dielectric grease on every connection. I make that a common practice now on every electrical connection I seperate and reconnect. Good luck!

Very common in a saltwater environment. The salt is in the air and is pervasive. Eventually everything starts to slowly corrode.

I am in my second year of ownership of a 97 3000 SCR, so I could use all the prior knowledge I can get, don't want to reinvent the wheel. I'm on the Potomac south of Quantico.
