Default 2800 trim tab upgrades

Looking for anyone on here that has done a trim tab upgrade on their 2800 SCR. Mine has the stock 12 x 12 tabs on it and I'm thinking about moving up to 24 x 12's. Looking for any info. from anybody that has done it. If Tabman is on I'd love to hear from him. We talked about it briefly last spring but I'm ready to make the change this spring and want to know about placement.

Adding the drop down fins would be a easier upgrade but tabman would need to tell you the benefits between the two.

You could send him a PM.

Last spring he suggested that a boat the size of the 2800 should really have 24 x 12 tabs on it but I could probably get away with 18 x 12's with drop fins and see similar results. After looking at the transom I think I have room to put the 24 x 12 on but am wondering about the placement and whether or not the actuators would need to be moved. If I make a change I want to upgrade to optimum performance. Last spring I upgraded props and that was a nice performance enhancement, I just want to optimize my cruising and planing performance.

Is your 2800 a single or twins?? If it is twins, I suspect you might need to go with drop fins. Drop fins are what came from the factory on 2800's in the late 90's.

I think I have plenty room on the transom for anything I want. Really more about getting the best performance and what is the proper placement. I believe they should go out to the edge to the Vee as far as possible, clos to where the reverse chine starts. I just want to make sure before ordering new plates. I am having the bottom stripped and repainted in a couple weeks so I want to get it right.
