2400scr louvered vent in aft cabin
As I was replacing the 90 degree elbow for the step down drain, I noticed a louvered vent on the forward wall on the starboard side of the crawlspace. Since my refrigerator was out already, I noticed that there is just a hole being covered up with a louver. Does anyone have an idea what was there originally? I was guessing a cabin heater or something but I don't see any evidence of something that was yank out of there. there was something screwed to the backside but not sure what.
any advice would be great

If you are refering to the forward bulkhead in the mid-berth on the startboard side it is a A/C vent. My 1997 2400scr came with factory air but heat was not an option.

Thanks MM. The boat was repowered a few years prior so they must have pulled all that out.

Not sure why one would remove the A/C unit that is behind the frig in the cabin when repowering.

Could it be just an air circulation vent for the (missing) fridge?

Without a picture showing what Bigbri is actually talking about, can't say exactly what it is.

Doesn't quite make sense. I'll be contacting the mechanic that did the swap this weekend. My original thought was that it was just a vent but then I thought it was an odd place for a vent since it would be all enclosed if the fridge was there.

There is a 6x8" aluminum vent next to the entrance, inside my aft cabin on my 2003 2400SE. It is not connected to a duct. I had presumed it was the return air to my A/C as it resides behind the refrigerator and that is all a common area. My refrigerator had a small 3" fan (similar to what you find on a computer) mounted on the bottom of the condenser coils. It makes sense that the vent in question would also help ventilate the area behind the fridge.

I think your right SR. I was cleaning the boat up at the dock yesterday and stuck my head in the hole where my fridge will go back into someday and noticed that there was no evidence of anything being mounted on the wall inside the common area. This makes total sense if for refer fan ventilation.
Mystery solved; Thanks guys.

The vent just inside the cabin hatch near the electrical panel is usually to allow air flow around the Bonding System. You should see a heat sink there with all the green wires for the bonding system.

Here is a snap shot of the A/C from the 2400 owners manual. Not enough detail to show any vents in the area.
