Default 2400 SCR Prop Question

Hi to all - I’m bringing back to life a 1996 2400 SCR that was abandoned in dry storage. Mechanically I’m pretty well done, it’s about to go to a professional retailer to be done in and out. I’ll post before and after pictures when done.

Prop question - the boat has a 5.7 liter with a Bravo Two drive. The prop that is on it is a 21” pitch. This is the first boat I’ve owned with the Bravo drive but I’ve never seen a small cruiser with that much prop pitch. I was expecting a 19” or even 17”

Could anyone with the similar boat tell me what pitch is on theirs ? I do have a spare prop for it and that one is a 19”

Thanks all !!

21p -22.5p would be about right. The engine has a max rpm of 4400 -4800. First thing I would do is, if the prop isn't damaged, then leave it. Take the boat out on the water and get it up on plane. Once trimmed out, go to Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and see where your max rpm is. If the max RPM is between 4400 - 4800 then leave it alone.

If the RPM is over 4800, increase pitch

If the RPM is below 4400, decrease pitch.

(1" pitch = 200 rpm)

I suspect you're probably right in the sweet spot. The test is assumed that you are neither overloaded, nor under loaded. Empty water, near empty fuel, no gear is going to behave much differently than full gear, 8 people and 2 loaded coolers. Keep the weight avg.

You could try going through the Mercury Prop calculator. It was giving me some issues when I tried to run through with limited info.
