Default 2300SCR - Pump turns on, but no water!

I am re-commissioning my 2300SCR after 10 YEARS in storage! All is well (now), except for one thing:

When I turn the fresh-water pump on - I can hear it, and it seems to be running, but - no water! (I did fill up the tank.)

Is there any kind of shut off or disconnect that I might be missing? I suppose it could be broken, but it sounds quite normal to me.

nope....it's probably the impeller is rotted out.....you might also concider the raw water impeller replacement on the drive also....those usually take a set and will crumble apart after you start them up...

Thanks SeaPuppy. Yes, the impeller on the outdrive (and the bearings, seals and yoke) were replaced, as was the engine, too!

It doesn't sound like an impeller-based pump, though. (Alright - how do I describe this...)

I sounds more like a loud Ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga sound - like a diagram-based pump - something moving back and forth. (It has always sounded like this, so nothing new.) Not like a clean whine of a spinning impleller.

It could be that there is some air in the lines and the water isn't getting through. Check out this thread i started before

where did you turn on the water pump? Are you sure you turned on the correct switch and not the shower sump pump? The shower pump has a distinctive sound much like you discussed.
Have you noticed any water in the bilge that might be pumping from a leak in the water line when you turn on the water switch? If you are sure you are turning on the correct switch and find no water anywhere then remove the panel in the mid cabin between the head and midcabin and check the pump while it is activated.

Resolved!

Like ccruser1 mentioned - I noticed when the pump ran the water from the tank started disappearing! :-O

Answer was - they had disconnected the water lines to the hot water heater for winterization. So when I ran the pump - it was pumping out of those lines into the bilge!

Reconnected, and all is well! :-)
