Default 2300SCR newbie needs help please

Hi all

I've got a 1992, 2300SCR. I've got the Maxum owner's manual but to be honest I could do with some diagrams / schematics just so I know where everything is on the boat (escpecially the engine compartment).

It's very hard to find any info on the web and the manual is very "wordy".

One specific question - the rack and pinion steering seems really stiff. I thought you should be able to steer with minimal effort. Is it worth stripping it down to see what's wrong or should I get a new one?

Thanks in advance.

Email "BOATHELP@usmboats.com" and ask them to send you one over. This is the USmarine customer support email. They will send you one over for free. I just had them send me the owners manual and supplement for my 2300sc. They are fast and very helpful. Good luck and welcome to the zoo as they say.

Is it tough to turn the wheel while the boat is off, or running as well? If the boat has power steering it would certainly behave that way while the engine is turned off. Otherwise, I'd be looking at steering cables and the wheel to start. Then look at the drive itself.
