Default 2300 SC & Trim Tabs

So my 98 2300 SC that I bought a few years ago came with a set of "Smart Tab" trim tabs. They're the ones with just gas shocks that are supposed to automatically go up and down based on the force pushed against the them. By default they are in the full down position, so I had to put on some mounts that raise them so the In/Out Service fork lift wouldn't take them off.

I was just curious if anyone else out there with this boat really felt of a differences with/without trim tabs. One one of the mounts sometimes seems to fail causing the tab to go into the storage/up position...leaving the other mount down. Trying to figure out if it's worth it to spend time to fix them up, or just keep the tabs up. I know I could just try it some myself, but figured I'd ping the mob.

I had the same boat for 6 years with no tabs and never felt I needed them.

I have trim tabs and use them all the time to increase time to plane and balance side to side leaning based on passangers and water/wind conditions.

I prefer trim tabs over smart tabs for boat 22 foot and up.
