Default 2007 2400se Plane rpm

Recently purchased a 2007 2400se 5.0l mpi with bravo 3 and took it out for the first time last week.
I have to run it at 4000rpm to keep it up on plane?
Seems a little high to me?
Is this typical?
Thanks Charlie....

Agree that’s high to maintain plane, I would think 3200 rpm should do it.

How much gear and passengers? Is the bottom clean of marine growth? Are the props damaged? Lastly is the engine running on all 8 cylinders?

2 people on the boat.
Props are good.
Bottom clean, no growth, no bottom paint, fresh water.
Trim tabs at 50%
Trim @ 90 degrees
Normal amount of gear.
Motor idles perfect, nice and smooth so I’m going to say it’s running on all 8 cylinders.

A set of 4 blade props from Hill Marine made a big difference on my buddies 2800 that was struggling. Maybe give them a call. They are great to work with.

I had a boat that idled fine and accelerated fine but had zero compression in one cylinder. I knew of this when I bought it and the price was adjusted to make repairs.

Agree with mmwjr rpm is to high, I would think once on plane you should be able to back off to approx 2600 -2800 and maintain plane with a 2400. Are you sure tach is right? Maybe something simple like a spun prop slipping on coupling or even the wrong prop installed by previous owner. Start with simple things first!
