Default 2004 2500SE Alarm Tone

Hi all !

I'm looking at a 2004 Maxum Cruiser and I do not get the alarm tone when I turn on the key. Every boat I've owned in the past would sound the alarm so you know it's working until the oil pressure came up.

I'm concerned that maybe someone disabled the alarm because it annoyed them at start up. I sent a note to Maxum but was curious if someone on here owns this same model and can tell me if there is no tone prior to cranking.

Every Merc I've owned sounded the alarm. It made be something as easy as a bad tone generator. Not a good item to be disabled.

I'll know this weekend if I'm going to buy it = excited to be back in boating after 7 years away.

welcome to the zoo....there should be a tone upon turning the key which stays on for a few seconds to let you know it's working...the older ones would stay on until it was started....then shut off.....

hope this helps..and welcome back to the world of BOAT=break out another thousand...

Agreed - my 2004 2400 SC3 sounds the alarm for a few seconds when the key is turned to Run (on).

The alarm on the boat you're looking at has either been disabled or is broken. The alarm on my 2004 is located behind the instrument panel and is just a small, round, black thing. Look behind the panel and see if it's there.

Thanks guys... I'm having my mechanic inspect the boat prior to making an offer so I'll make sure this is on the list .

Over all, it appears to be a well built , well laid out boat.

I hope to be joining the club soon

Philbo. I have heard of A LOT of people who disable the alarm. Particularly when there is a problem they can't find. I suspect it hs been disabled. I would make sure it is enabled and running first, this will probably cause the ofending alarm to return.

Yup, disabled or broken. Mine did not work but it is a very easy fix. They are cheap and only require a screw driver to remove the instrument panel which it hides behind, wire clippers, new alarm, electrical tape, and a 12 pack of your favorite cold beer. It may also be hiding behind the ignition key slot. This is where mine was, and it was mush easier to access. Looks like this, although mine was black and the one in this link is red. http://greatlakesskipper.com/product...ng-buzzer.html
Good luck.

Awesome Phil, congrats! The boat looks great.

What did the alarm issue turn out to be?

Buzzer was broken.. I called him on it and he had his mechanic go look at / replace it ... I got the test beep before start up and no alarms during a 45 minute sea trial.
