2000 2300SR - Bilge Switch - WHERE IS IT?
So, I really dont want to post this question but have been searching the forums and cant find it asked before... which make me more hesitant. I bought a 2000 2300SR a few weeks ago. Issue - I dont see a bilge switch on the panel. I ASSume that there is no switch and it is all automatic but have been wondering if that is correct. Why wouldnt there be a manual switch in case the float switch goes bad?
The switches on the dash are labeled for Nav Lights, ACCY, etc, but none are labeled bilge. Any help on this one, gang?
Thanks very much!

did you know that 90% of all boat sinking are at the dock?
So, bilge pumps are direct wired to the battery so they don't get turned off.
there is a switch on the side of the pump you can push manually to test it.
there are two types, the automatic magnetic RULE type, and the Johnson toilet flat type.
I had the Rule, but t would never shut off...., so i replaced with the Johnson.
keep it simple.
My boat have has a forward and aft bilge switch on my dash, but its more of a decoration, and light when the pump runs, and something for me to play with......, but lucky it never runs....

Thanks Pascavone. I was thinking that it is the case where the bilge is automatic and no switches or lights on the dash. Boat always dry as a bone but good to keep an eye on things!
Have a great day and thx for the assist!

Zort,
Like Pas's boat my 2004 MY 2400 SC3 also has a manual switch. Consider it an over-ride. If the float fails, and they do, or if something gets lodged in the float mechanisum, and they do, a manual switch provides another oppertunity to keep the boat afloat. Redundancy.
If your boat really doesn't have a manual switch I'd seriously consider adding one. You can use the spare ACCY (accessory) switch if you want.
I test my bilge pump each spring before the boat goes into service for the season.

Happy to help. If you do install a manual switch you might also consider installing a light that comes on whenever the pump comes on (auto or manual). If the boat starts taking on water for any reason while under way you'll never hear the pump run, but you'll likely see the light - visual confirmation of a potential issue.

I have been watching this thread with anticipation that the switch will be found. On our 3000scr I have a mid and rear blige switch on the dashboard. I can't think of any other way to do this. It just boggles my mind that there is NOT a switch on the dashboard to turn the blige pump on on these smaller boats. Yes I know how you can test the pump at the pump but no switch? Don't get the thinking on that one. IMHO

Roger I am with you on this one. My last boat a sea ray 20' 1992 had a switch at the helm. The float was hot all the time. IMHO this is the only way to go.
