Default 1999 2800 SCR Water Leak-HELP

All, I have 1999 2800 SCR which is in great condition, very clean and well cared for. However, I have a water leak in STBD AFT corner of the aft cabin. It is runnning down from the overhead and begining to cause a milldue issues. Has anyone experienced this problem? Any idea where it could be coming in from. I have replaced the cockpit cover with brand new eisen glass and canvas enclosure. I was thinking maybe the rub rail or maybe where the radar arch meets the hull. The boat is still wrapped so I still have a few more weeks until I can investigate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

First welcome to the website salty! I'll give you some ideas here to think about and hopefully more of the crew here well chime in and we will get this problem solved!

Do you get this problem only when it rains or is it all the time? I know on my 3000 the water lines and the heater are in that corner. Maybe a pinhole leak in one of the water lines is getting inside the cabin?

Where do you boat? Pictures are welcomed!!

Roger

Thanks for the reply. I boat on the northern Ches bay. The boat only leaks during a wash down or rain.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

welcome to the zoo....
first off...it it's in the stbd side of the aft cabin...then it's probably either one of two places...a water leak in a line or it's coming down the radar arch or down thru the top cap..take the rub rail off you may have to heat up the rub rail with a hair dryer or a heat gun and carefully pry the rub rail out of it's track...then apply a bead of clear 4200 silicone sealant and reseal the ctr part of the tray where all the screws are seated...then put a bead along the top part of the tray and the bottom of the tray..then with a rubber mallet...carefully pound the rubber insert back into the tray......

the radar arch base sometimes leaks...so..get some 4200 silicone sealant and squeeze some into the base along the attachment to the main part of the boat.....

hope this helps...

Thanks for the information. Great ideas. I will take a look at it in a few weeks when I take the wrap off. Thanks again.

i have the same boat in 2000.

I had a simlar issue, and it was the bow rail bolts.

I took the hose and soaked everything from the bottom up, meaning soak the rub rail with a hose, then watch for the leak over the course of a few days.

if no leak get the hose and go higher to the wind sheild or cabin windows.

it took over a month of washing the boat, but i found the issues.

you also should check the inside of your drain thru hull fittings, i had two that had a crack inside the lip which was inside the hull.
