Default What is this on steering wheel?

There is a knob underneath the steering wheel that we have no idea what it is for. This is a 2000 1800SR. We can't seem to turn it left or right, but not sure if it is locked up or something. Any idea what this is?
Thanks,
Vicki

It allows you to adjust the wheel up or down. Try pulling or pushing on it.

hmmmmm, okay will try that tonight. Wonder if we should grease it or something before we try pulling/pushing it? Thanks!

I don't see any reason to need to grease it.

On my old 1990 2700SCR that knob was to used to set tension on the steering column. Worked perfect if you thought your steering needed a bit of tightening up.

So do you turn it left or right - (to tighten or loosen) because we tried that and it would not turn either way. We haven't tried pulling it or pushing it - we'll try that tonight.

I cannot tell on my iPad, it’s either a tensioner that you would turn to increase or descrease tension on the wheel movement. Or it’s a tilt that you pull towards you to release to tilt the column up and down.

Well, you cannot push or pull it. There are threads like it needs to twist left or right but it is stuck. Should we manhandle it and see if we can turn it? Updated photo below.

And what does it do? Hubby took pliers to it and nothing happened when he turned it either way.

Tension adjustment. PB Blaster let it sit then try turning it.

Most of us don't bother with it which is why it's frozen right now.

Just ignore it unless your steering is very tight.

Mine vibrated off and dropped on the cabin floor, any ideas how to re install it. Do I need to center the wheel, push or pull ?

It should just thread in under the steering column.

Lay on the deck under the helm and look up at the column may help.
