The 5.0 and 5.7 are the same in many ways including the plug location. It's a feel thing as they are under the exhaust manifolds but not too difficult. A mechanics mirror may help. Not knowing what boat model you have but in my 2400 SCR it's a bend over the engine job however on my past Sea Ray 220 and 200 it was a sit on the deck job.

I had to remove the exhaust manifolds on my Crownline 5.7 merc to gain access to the spark plugs.

I used to use a 6 or 8-inch extension with a universal joint. It also helps to know that the plugs are NOT mounted in a 90-degree angle to the block. They are swept back around 60 degrees. Without seeing it, you'll struggle if you try to hit them at 90 degrees.
