Smile New prop and smart tabs

Just got a new to me 2001 1800sr 4.3 last July. Got to the river with a load of kids and adults to tube and ski with and a 23 pitch alum. prop in very bad shape. With full load it had a hard time getting on plane. The next weekend I purchased a new 21 pitch alum prop. Hole shot was much improved and had no problem skiing with full size adults. I did however lose about 4-5 mph top in and had to watch the tach so to not go over 4800 rpm. This spring I installed a set of 80lb smart tabs and 23 pitch stock Merc ss prop. I now have my top in back and hole shot is great. I have not had a chance to really load it down yet but I feel it is going to do fine.

Gotta love it when it all comes together. I can't wait to test my 2400 SC3 with the adjustable tabs I recently installed.

Since you can't retract the smart tabs be mindfull when reversing or if you find yourself in a following sea.

The stainless steel prop will give you some top end because it doesn't flex like the aluminum plus the smart tabs help with getting on plane so you're probably right where you should be. You will probably still lose some top end when fully loaded but as long as you're not overloaded, you should be able to get on plane and tow a skier.
