First, congrats and welcome. As far as most of us on here are concerned a Maxum is a great boat! No complaints with mine.

Teasing you now.....but.....shouldn't you have posed that question BEFORE you bought it??!!! All kidding aside, so long as the boat was well maintained, stored properly and operated appropriately "brand" really isn't that important. It's all about care and condition.

Good luck.

I'm not exactly sure what a 2000 srl is. But a 2000 5.7 Mercruiser is 260hp if EFI and 250 with a carb.

Just bought a 2001 1800 SR. First time boat owner also. Has 183 hours on it and appears to be in immaculate condition. Hope it runs and floats though! Has the 190HP engine. Anyone have any experiences with this boat they can share with me/

Huey
welcome to the zoo...since your a new boater....might I suggest a quality boat safety course...get the certificate and present it to the ins. company...it will get you a discount.....

the 190hp should be enough to push that boat to a decent speed....

have fun...be safe..

I guess I should clarify. I did buy a new Pontoon boat and kept it for 2 seasons back in 2005-2006. Pretty boring on the same lake on a floating living room with a 50 HP motor! Hopefully this will be able to pull a skier and be a little more exciting! Looking forward to getting the Maxum in the water and it will run OK.
