He's not even in the uk like he said he was...No reply from him so i just have to wait three days and send in the SAS!

Hey all...hope you are well.
Just an update.
I sent the ECM back to California to be inspected and as I feared it's scrap and unfixable. So now I have to look again at alternatives with the help of my dealer here in the Uk to keep the project sensible. Off to ebay and Marketplace to see what i can find whilst chasing my Money around the planet...
Stay safe all.
A real shame that people lie but what can you do.

njh - Hello there as it has been months since I have followed your project. Hope the ECM / ECU issue gets corrected for your 5.0L. With this virus pandemic those that want to scam people are abundant. Such a shame. Followed up on the photos you posted and just unreal what you have accomplished. You and your wife are craftsmen! Have my 1992 1800SR sitting out in the garage hibernating and waiting for next season. Have a new boarding ladder ordered plus fighting an electrical intermittent issue where the engine will not crank to fix this winter. Have plenty of time now as I retired from Boeing last July. Keep up the great work on a fine piece of machinery! Can not wait to hear of the report of the first engine run. Later, Dean

Nick - Thanks for the quick reply. I know you folks there in England are 6 hours ahead of us here in the midwest USA. From what I understand getting the carb & intake system to your liking you will have more power from the engine. EFI is great but relies too much on electronics and that can be a hassle. You already know that. Have not done any traveling yet plus still have to get our passports. Waiting for the virus to get defeated and we can all get back to a new normal!
Take care, be safe and virus free. Cheers! Later, Dean

Hi all.
Well it's been a while...work has been monumentaly busy. I have pulled and stretched my Left Sartorius leg muscle getting in and out of the boat. Thats been two weeks of no sleep, another two weeks of recovery, monumental pain killers and trying to rest and today at 08.15 The physio said get rid of the Crutch! So, much better and improving.
This has of course left me staring at all the parts mounting up but thankfully today I have been able to get in the boat to re-engineer the Adapter plate so the Carb is on, the Fuel system is plumbed in and and all I need to do is make a bracket for the throttle outer and then prime the fuel filter...not nervous at all!!
There are some new pictures on the link for you to share with a beer and I'll post as soon as we get to key turning stage...stay safe.

Nick - So sorry to hear about your injury. I know somewhat of the issue getting back & forth out of my '92 1800SR the last few weeks. I will make a new post on the ladder replacement project that I am completing this off season.
Great to see your project closer to fruition. You, your wife plus the help you have received have done an outstanding job, cheers! Can not wait to hear the word as to "engine start". Have a great Easter weekend and hope for a full recovery of your injury. Take care...

Hi Dean...hi all.
The video of the first fire in on the link attached.
Had to turn it off straight away due to exhaust/cylinder build burn off smoke heading into the house.
Restarted today but there there is a fuel delivery issue to fix.

Sound awesome through the exhaust though.
We are very,very happy!
Nick and Cate.

Nick & Cate - Just truly awesome and what a great job you all have done. Well I will think about your awesome power when I have my 3.0L powered 1992 Maxum 1800SR on the water this summer. Way to go! Hope Nick is recovering well from his injury. Cheers!

Hi all. Hope everyone is well.
The leg is much better thank you.
The Gen 2 leg is lined up (what a game that is!) and on, the Shift/Throttle cables are on and adjusted. Just need to set the Trim sender and stop switch and then to the lake...
Link to the photo album again if you're all really bored...

Nick - The photos tell your story and your boat is the result of your expertise and to anyone who has helped you. Hope to here when you have her under power and out on the water. That will be a day you will never forget! Cheers

Finally, after 3 years She's on the water...no leaks, goes into and out of gear and idles nicely and bearing in mind we've never owned one before super stable at rest.
No power runs yet (we cant wait to get the exhaust out of the water) but we will post as soon as we do some...maybe tomorrow.
Yesterday we spent the day in the Boatyard sorting a friends Idle on the 3.0 TKS.
Lovely and smooth now and My amazing Wife restiched their boat cover...
More pictures in the usual place. https://photos.app.goo.gl/H2VLhDb9Y4QyRyFF6
Hope all are well.
Nick and Cate.

Nick & Cate - What a tremendous job with the help I'm sure of some closest friends and businesses along the 3 yr. journey. You should give each other a toast. Well my 1992 1800SR is enjoying the water with my son's and grandchildren. I need to post some more photos to my album as well. In a separate post I gave details on the boarding ladder project. One I should have done years ago. Waiting to see videos of Vitamin Sea under power on the water. Cheers!

Hi all.
No power tests yet due constant wind blowing up quite a swell at the coast. Back to the seaside this weekend for five days fingers crossed!
Video as soon as we can get some. Rather fantastically power boat and rib magazine are offering to do an article on the restoration.
Hope all are enjoying their boating.

Wow that’s great that they want to do a article on your boat. Hopefully you can try her out soon.

Hi all.
Just a little update...disaster on the second trip to the Coast having lost a wheel due to paint on the Wheel allowing wheel nuts to come undone.
Stuck on a bend in the welsh hills for five hours in the dark whilst waiting for recovery.
Luckily the trailer withstood the impact, the massively over engineered mudguards held on to the wheel and tyre combo and the hub took the actual road impact.
No one hurt despite the five hours on the road and no damage to the boat I can find. The trailer is now repaired and we are plucking up courage to set off again.
Hope all are well.

Glad all turned out well. Not sure I understand how paint allowed the lug nuts to become loose.

Hi all...I thought i'd updated and replied but apparently not soooo...
Finally managed to get some above tickover runs in on a local pool and get the engine running sweetly. Some trim sender adjustment issues resulting in some hi-bow moments but all sorted now...it appears I have built a missile! Enourmous amounts of really smooth power.
There are some long distance clips as the water was shallow by the dock. I'll attach the link at the bottom.
I have fitted the "attach at one end" exhaust tube and the boat sounds lovely except you cant hear it very well in the clips.
As for the wheel nuts. The recovery Guy asked if i'd painted the wheels recently?
"Not recently I said but within 18 months...why?"
"See this all the time on commercial vehicles. The thicker paint you get from brush application is enough to allow the nuts to rub on it and wear it away, leaving the wheel nuts loose"
So just the carpet and Auxillary engine mount to go and then Bimini Top, Bass Speaker
two more interior lights two go.
Suggestions for Bass speakers and Amps received.
Another Lake test this Saturday so hopefully more videos will appear.
