Question MAXUM 1800 MX 3.0TKS (135hp) Propeller suggestion

Hi All, I recently acquired my 2008 18ft Maxum. I am new to power boating, but keen to lean fast. I friend noted that my prop could use a change as it has some chips and bends that have been previously filed down, etc.

I am looking for a good balance between fuel economy and top speed. I don't don't expect to pull any skis or boards for the foreseeable future.

Where I live (Cayman Islands) I don't have much options to try out different spec props, so looking for suggestions on proven options for this boat. What works for others.

I tried to check the top speed a few weeks back and got to 38.7 mgh (33.6 knots). I know this is not the top speed per the boat specs, and it seems the prop could be the issue. I don't know what the WOT RPM was at the time, but not looking to fine tune the boat to perfection, just to get an improved top speed, and get good fuel economy.

Thanks in advance.

Adam

Welcome aboard

Try using quicksilver’s online prop calculator to see what it recommends.

Yep, prop calculator is good tool.
Do you know your current prop size, and, sterndrive gear ratio? I think your boat came with a 19P prop and 1.98 gear ratio.
I had a boat that size and found a 19P prop, 14.5 inch diameter was a good general prop. I also had a 21P prop for long runs.
