Default Hull repair

I have a 2001 Maxum 1800 XR. We haven’t had it long and I was just under the boat and noticed this: (see pic)

Is this ok.. or normal? Do I need to do anything to it to repair it or keep it from getting worse?

It doesn't look like it's through the gel coat. You could wet sand it, then compound it. I doubt it's huting anything. It looks like the PO was beaching it.
