The last two digits are the year 88 for 1988.

Shrew knows the rest and will chime in.

Welcome aboard "Elgigantebo"!!!!

USHB48MDA888

USH = MIC (Manufacturers Identification Code)

B48MD = Serial Number

A8 = Date of Certification or Manufacture Date

88 = Model Year

* Note you can manufacture a boat in a different year than the model year (e.g. a 2017 model rolling off the line in December of 2016).

Maxum used the following MIC's based on the factory location:

MIC......Company..............Address............. ................City,State
BVK......MAXUM MARINE.....17825 59TH AVE NE............ARLINGTON,WA
MXK......MAXUM MARINE.....17825 59TH AVENUE NE......ARLINGTON,WA
MXP......MAXUM MARINE.....17825 59TH AVENUE NE......ARLINGTON,WA
MXR......MAXUM MARINE.....PO BOX 9029....................EVERETT,WA
MXY......MAXUM MARINE.....1 NORTH FIELD CT.............LAKE FOREST,IL
XNC......MAXUM MARINE.....17825 59TH AVE NE............ARLINGTON,WA

The MIC "USH" is for Bayliner Marine built on January 8, 1988 at the Brunswick facility at 17825 59TH AVE NE, ARLINGTON, WA.

I don't have the means to decode the model from the Serial Number (B48MD). You should be able to call Bayliner Customer Care to have them verify the exact model.

Best of luck.

Welcome aboard

Well I can tell you it’s a 1997. Isn’t there a ID at the helm that lists the model?

Google Mercruiser helm wiring diagram.

It's the trifecta. A hijack. a post with scope creep and a duplicate.

Brunswick Customer Support can help you with the exact model number. What was provided for decoding the HIN is all that is available outside of Brunswick. You already have a post to address the ignition.

Best of Luck

I have a 1992 Maxum 1800SR with a HIN of USKB63MEB292. Did not see the manufacturer location for USK in the list above. Believe it was built in Washington, not sure where - any help for USK?
Thanks, deanries (Dean) Go Big or Go Home

Wow... so much for us being ready to help.

New boaters get confused and need a little extra guidance but I guess they can't expect it here...

Looks like a wiring diagram for an outboard. I believe I provided what he was looking for in his other post.
