Default Fuel pump wiring

Does anyone have a schematic for the fuel pump wiring? I have a purple and black wire where on one end are terminated to the connector at the fuel pump. The other wire goes towards the rear of the engine but is disconnected. I reach around the rear of the motor but can’t seem to find where the wire should terminate to. The end that is disconnected is a spade lug (female) purple wire from fuel pump.
Thanks in advance for your help, any pictures will help as well

Welcome aboard!

What year, engine, carburetor or MPI?

I’ll post a diagram tomorrow but the fuel pump gets power from the starter solenoid when the key is in the start position. Once started there is a oil pressure switch that closes and provides power. This is a safety feature; if the engine dies oil pressure goes to zero and the switch opens removing power from the fuel pump preventing it from over flowing the carburetor.

I was able to get my phone back there and take a couple of pictures. Any chance the ring lug was inserted into the purple wire?
When I did have it started the oil pressure was around 25psl at idle.

The oil pressure switch is either located in the same area as your picture but to the right or on the port side of the engine block just above where the oil filter or remote filter adapter attaches.

If you go to Documents you can find Mercruiser manual #25 for your engine which will show the location of the oil pressure switch as well as the wiring diagram for the fuel pump.
