Default Convertible top, hinge on windshield

I have a 2007 1900sr and the convertible top came off when the hinge on the windshield stripped out. I am looking for ideas or suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Eric ........I am at a lost here. exactly what to do mean............ but first welcome to the website!

Glad you have found us and I hope we can help you with this question and many more.....

Now convertible top? do you mean the bimini top? Did the snaps come unscrewed? I don't understand the hinge on the windshield? Never heard of that. They aren't usually attached to the windshield.

If you have a stripped out hole from a screw just take a filler epoxy and pug the hole and then drill another hole for the screw.

Sometimes a picture can help.......hope someone else well chime in on your thread and add alittle more info to help you.

Roger

As Roger said welcome but I don't follow what the issue is either. I am assuming by hinge on the windshield you are refering to he center section of he windshield that folds over. Did the srews come out or the pin that connects the 2 halfs? Not sure what this would have to do with the top.

hey guys sorry for the long delay I am trying to add a picture but basically on this boat you can have either a Bimini top or a convertible top or enclosure. There is a hinge or bracket that sits on top of the window and it is screwed in with two some what small screws. The screw stripped the hole and now it wont screw in. Hope this helps

Can you go up one size of screw that will bite into the wider hole?

Or find some epoxy to fill in the hole and start from scratch.

Welcome aboard Eric Newman!! I have no idea what you are referring too when you say "Bimini Top" vs. "Convertable Top". I'm familiar with a Bimini Top on a boat and a convertable top on a car. I'm not familiar with what you are referring to as a Convertable Top on a boat or how that is differentiated from a Bimini Top.

Also not clear on the nature of the stripped hinge that you are trying to replace.

I believe he is refering to where the bimini frame attaches to the windshield, see picture.

Ah, I see. A larger screw should fix that problem.
