Default transom lighting

I'm thinking of adding a couple LED lights to the transom of my 1800MX at the top of the cove around the drive. The thought is that it would illuminate at least the drive while swimming at night but at best would light up people too. I found some 4-inch, 6 led strips that are made as trailer lights (but available in many colors) that look like they would work but am wondering what anyone else might have used and if lights that are above the water will actually penetrate the water enough to be useful.

Thanks.

I don't think they will penetrate very well - will probably reflect off the water instead.

I've heard really good things about these: http://www.coastalnightlights.com/.

They have a respected following on another forum and are very reasonably priced.

I just saw those but they're very expensive for the amount I'm expecting to use them. I bought the 'Lottie-Da' new in 2008 and have not once gone swimming at night so I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive project. I think it'll look pretty cool with them on while making a wake at night even if we never swim with them on.
