Default Refinishing gel coat

Working on my '93 2100sr, I have currently just finished cutting out and replacing dry/rotted wood at the rear of my boat. (Engine / gimble) still out... I would like to refinish the gel coat outside in the stern area... I had bought a gallon of white polyester gel coat, with my other supplies, from US Composites, that I wanted to finish my work on the inside with. I chose to make my rebuild with epoxy resin, but learned that I couldn't cover it with the poly gel coat that I had bought... Can I use this on the outside of the boat?

Just got some new information yesterday...
Steve from U.S. Composites told me that if you sand a small section of polyester epoxy(which most boats are made of), you will get that sweet solvent smell from it... If it's epoxy gelcoat, no odor.....
