Hello I recently bought a 3000 Scr the gel coat has quite a few cracks in it on one side as it must have been tied up starboard side in some rough weather I could do with some advise on repairing the gel coat finding some original replacement strips and what the consensus is about wrapping it 😊

Welcome aboard

More detail better yet some picture of the cracks would help.

How wide, deep, and long are they?

A gel coat paste from Spectrum that has the original color to fill and match, however with the age of the boat matching can be a challenge.

Welcome aboard. Filling them is easy. Faring it so it looks flush and smooth is tricky. color matching the gelcoat is an art.

If you want it done well, I would hire a fiberglass person.

Thanks guys I appreciate it I will take some photos and get them up will I find Spectrum on the net is it as simple as putting in the make and model of the boat ? I guess blending the gel coat for the correct colour or fade is the difficult part ?

If the hull is white the color should be Dream White.

What is the year of the 3000 SCR? What is the general color of the hull where the damage is (e.g. Grey, white, blue, black)?

Hi guys

Thanks Mike , hi Shrew it's all sort of a yellowy White someone said to me it's a champagne? the cracks are a little whiter than the rest of the boat where someone has tried to polish them that really needs a good cutting compound and polish but I thought I should wait till I identified the proper colour of gel and then do it all together when I would have it repaired ? Any info and advise is greatly appreciated

Not knowing how much oxidation there is I would polish the boat first then you match the repairs.
