"New" redone cockpit table
Hey guys, I was wanting to change the look of my cockpit table on my 2002 2900 SCR. I looked at wood tables because I knew that was the look I was wanting as to match the wood grain finish of my boat dash but wasn't up for spending $200+ on a table right now so I came up with just redoing the current one. Thought I would post because it was very simple project and thought maybe someone else might get use out of info. I went to Lowes and bought 4 or 5 of the stick down flooring planks in the wood color and grain I wanted and some flexible, paintable pvc molding. I removed the old rubber rail on table and cleaned the top of table with alcohol and just simply peeled off the layment from back of plank and adhered it to table top. I trimmed each plank around the table and around cup holders as I laid each piece down. Once completely covered and trimmed, I painted the pvc molding with a dark brown paint using a cloth to apply so I could give it a "wood" looking finish. Measured around the table, cut the molding to length then used small finishing nails to attach around table, then went back and covered nail heads with wood filler and painted over that then sprayed the molding with a Polycrylic to seal it and make it water proof. Instead of using the old plastic brown cup holders I replaced with new stainless ones. Total cost of materials was around $30 and did it in one day.
