Default Lofran's Airon Windlass - Will it take rope?

Hey all,

I finally got my windlass working, but I can't really figure out how to make it pull up the rope. The chain is 5/16, and the rope is 1/2 3-strand. I'm not sure if I need thicker rope, or if my windlass just isn't designed for it. It has a capstan on top, but I can't even figure out how to use that!

Here is a picture of my gypsy. I don't think it can grab any size rope, but wondering what you all think.

I reached out to Lofran's and this is their response:

"Thank you for contacting Lofrans'!

Kindly note that the Airon windlass is a long retired model, which is not compatible with rope.

However, the direct replacement is the X2 model, in terms of deck template compatibility, which is in the 8mm ISO4565/ DIN766 gypsy, is compatible with 14mm 3-strand Rope.

We provide the X2 in Anodised Aluminium and in Chrome plated, in low profile and with Drum option."
