Hole in ski locker lid

I have a perfectly round 1 in wide hole in the floor lid to the ski locker. Its right next to the factory handle. Should I buy some sort of rubber plug, grommet type thingy, or should I marine epoxy it? I don't have carpet, so it needs to be addressed.

Being perfectly round I’m assuming someone drilled the hole and it’s not due to damage or rot. I would epoxy fill it with a resin and filler mix.

Is the hole in gelcoat non-skid?
There are some good videos online about making repairs. I just repaired a few spots on my non-skid and they turned out very good.

What is the hatch to the ski locker made out of? Fiberglass or wood?

Perfectly round sounds like a pull hole. Are you sure the handle is factory? Did someone install a handle beside a pull hole?

I was thinking the same as Shrew... A picture would help.

It's been years since I had a boat with a ski locker but it had a hole in it so you could stick your finger in it and pull the lid up. A handle sounds like a broken toe waiting to happen.

sorry guys the photo didnt load. The locker is in the floor next to the drivers seat. There is already a handle to open it. Looking some more, I wonder if it was for a lock to secure it or a vent hole that is missing the cover.

It could have been a lock. It could have been the mounting hole for the original handle the one you have is aftermarket (hard saying without seeing it). I would expect a ski locker to be vented, because wet skis and PFD's are stored down there.

Attached is picture of my 2001 1800. The ski locker is between the seats and you can zoom in and see the vent. Is that vent in the same place as the hole you are talking about?

my 2001 sr has a vent next to the pull handle about 1" the vent has a mesh screen.
