Default Carpet out, EVA deck in - Need carpet?

Both the Admiral and I wanted the exterior carpet out and something new in. After a lot of research and walking the docks I decided to go with EVA installed by Marine Customs of Indian Harbor Beach, FL. www.deckyourboat.com

Craig did a great job teaching us about the material and the installation process so we felt very confident we were going to get a good product. Craig worked around our schedule the whole way from initial meeting, mapping of the deck, and installation.

The material is laser etched full encased marine EVA. Each piece has a finished edge and then an extended 'base' to ensure great adhesion. While we went with just plain 'teak' lines, Craig can custom engrave just about anything you'd like into the decking material.

I've waited about a month to post because the Admiral and I wanted to 'test' out the deck before making any comments. The stuff is real comfortable on the feet, even after being in direct sunlight all day. My knees are SOOOOO happy not having to kneel down on non-skid and even the old carpet. No issues with cleaning.

All this being said - if anyone has a 4100 SCA that needs fly bridge or stair carpet, let me know and you can come pick it up. I'll hold on to it for a while, then into the dumpster it goes. Sorry, the sun deck's carpet was torn up in several places and I've already tossed that.

Here's some shots to show the material and how it looks.
The laser cut EVA material. Note the extended 'base' layer to help with adhesion.

If you mind me asking. What is the general (cost/sq. ft) installed? (I don't need to know the cost, and I'm not quoting, just trying to get a rough feel for it).

Sorry, I didn't keep the rough out sheets that had the sq footage, but put the job (material and labor) in the $2.5 - $3K range.

Not cheep, I'll certainly give you that ... but ... our thinking was that this was a one time deal, and we wanted it done right.

Read a ton of threads about folks buying material online, tempting, cutting, and installing all on their own. I am not afraid of turning a wrench and doing things I know how to do well, but when it comes to what I call a 'talent' required job, I defer to the experts and open my wallet.
