Where is everyone?
Where is everyone?
I have been on here everyday and it seems like no one else is here.
Hope all is well out there, and no one is sick with C19.
Don

Looking for a job. I was layed off and the Governor mandated all Hair Salons be closed so my wife is out of business....
On top of all that they closed Lake Powell so we can't Social Distance on our boat either... It will sit in storage until Sept.

Good afternoon.
I am sorry to hear that you lost your job, being retired I am not in that position, and I feel for everyone in that position.

Stay safe , hope all goes well for you Lita's and my Prayers are with all of you out there.

Phillbo, story to hear about your hard times. My prayers go out to you, all those in your situation and worse those who have been stricken with this horrible illness. I am one of the very fortunate that is still working and so far healthy.

Thanks guys!! We were marching along and loving life until a few weeks ago. We have plenty of saving but would prefer to use it to do fun trips and not have to waist it away on paying a mortgage on a building that is not turning a profit anymore etc.... If this goes on for more than a couple months we will have to lay off employees and probably just stop making payment... The boat is payed for though

After my wife was laid off in late January from a job of 25 years, we decided to buy a house in Florida (P&S signed around Feb 1), just before this Pandemic was a thing. I quickly sold my house in New Hampshire, because I didn't want to own two houses. The house I was living in closed 1 month before the house I purchased.
Since I keep my boat in Rhode Island, we decided to get an AirBnB in Rhode Island so we could be closer to the boat to get her in the water. In the meantime, I had moved the entirety of my life's possessions into a storage unit in NH (it was right down the road and easy to do with a pickup truck).
The plan was to snowbird. We'd live in Florida for 6 months from late fall, winter, and early spring. We were then planning on living on the boat in Rhode Island all summer. I rented a small 9x12 office in RI to work out of during the week. (I work from Home).
Enter Covid-19.
-I am now marooned in an AirBnB in Rhode Island.
-I'm still waiting for my closing on the house in Florida on April 30.
- Marina bathrooms are closed for the unforeseeable future
- Pump-out boat doesn't run until Memorial Day (whether it starts running then is still to be seen).
-I don't really want to rent a moving truck
-I don't really want to hire movers to 'touch' all of my stuff in storage (Plus I moved furniture for a few years many years ago. It's kind of like a carpenter hiring someone to build a deck).
-Even if I drive from Rhode Island to Florida I don't really want to stop at hotels, bathrooms, or drive through's. (This seems picky, however I have upper respiratory issues from many, many years of smoking, and I'm right on the edge of COPD (I quit too late)).
- Even if I manage to drive to Florida and use a bucket and kitty litter......once I arrive, I move into a house with no furniture and all of my worldly possessions are still in NH.
I am literally stranded in an AirBnB with no good options.
However, mother always used to say "You never have to look far to find someone worse off than you"

That is exactly what happened to me and about a dozen of my peers... 5 years shy of retiring. Will be delayed a few years now

ya, honestly.....we're not really complaining. Just a weird situation to be in.
We have our health, we're warm and dry, we're not hungry, we have toilet paper, and I'm still working. This too shall pass.

Wow and double wow.............so sorry for everyone troubles... it is a sad state of affairs that is going on in world...Here in central Illinois we are so lucky to be far enough away from frickin Chicago that our cases and deaths are minimal of this virus. I still when going out to get groceries put the mask and wear gloves to be on the save side. My marina is shut down but I can still get to my boat to work on it...just can't launch it. Illinois I believe has until April 7th for the lock down.
Hang in there folks.....
Roger

I'm going back to work!!
Got a call from a major financial institution this morning offering me a role managing a Production Support / User Acceptance Testing team supporting one of their major application. I start May 4th.
It's been a strange 8 months. I was starting to think I would have to really lower my standards but kept aiming high and it worked out. It will be nice to have quality insurance again (if there is such a thing anymore).
Oh, and I found paper products at the grocery store this morning
Now to get my lake opened again...

That’s great news! Hope that the new job gets you to retirement. I found TP at the store yesterday as well. My GF has been out so I’m a hero.
