Default 1996 27ft Maxum

https://smd.craigslist.org/boa/5386946620.html

This is my Friends Boat, Thought I'd pass it on..

Make Offer (Hollywood, MD)

I have a 1996 27ft. Maxum. This is a beautiful boat, but it does have a bad transom. I have had it professionally accessed by a local marina. The cost for repair is about 5000 if they do the work. To do it yourself is a couple of hundred at best and a lot of labor. I have already removed the engine and transom plate assembly so all that is left is to cut out the old wood and replace and re-fiberglass it. Install a new engine and you have yourself a beautiful boat. I bought the boat at auction last year. I do have a clear title to the boat. It has a built in AC unit that looks like brand new. The boat appears to be well taken care of. It is currently on a trailer (which was mine before I bought the boat) and the trailer does not come with the boat. I need the trailer IMMEDIATELY so I can pull my other cabin cruiser out of the water before it gets too cold. But I can arrange for delivery of the boat to your house for the cost of gas plus the guys time. I do not have a big enough truck myself. I will help you block the boat up for a nominal fee also. Here is the link to the blue book value of the boat (in running condition). The boat does not come with the engine or outdrive assembly. They did break down the cost of the engine in the blue book value. Also listed locally at somd.com boat section.

Todd the listing does not say how much he wants for the boat.

NADA shows $11,750 - $5000 for transom = $6,750.

Then the new owner needs to come up with an engine and outdrive!

Heck unless free not something to concider, even free one will only break even at best.

I would think doing the transom yourself will be more like $1000 for the wood and glass material. A fair amount of resin is required.

Good luck to your friend.

Out of curiosity, do you know what caused the transom damage?? It sounds like he discovered it during a transom replacement. Do you have any details and a backstory?

PM me if you'd prefer to discuss offline.

Here is about all I know.. http://www.maxumownersclub.com/forum...king-5981.html

I doubt that previous owner knew about this. I didn't see it till I started power washing the Bottom Paint. I am retiring to Port St Lucie, Fl around April. and I can't take all my projects with me.
