Upper or lower shift cable? Do you have spacers between the exhaust manifolds and risers? If so there may be a leak dripping onto the cable which in turn is dripping onto the manifold. Can you post a picture of where you are seeing the water?

http://leak[/IMG] it's the lower shifter dripping onto the valve cover, a slow drip from the end where the cable goes into the plastic. yes, three"spacers.https://photos.app.goo.gl/k4DWeUfXSNkXWiTx7

The lower shift cable and the water inlet hose from the transom assembly to t-stat housing cross at the inner transom so a drip there may be the source.

So is it something that can be reached from the outdrive or is it something that's in the engine compartment, I have no idea where to look?

In the engine compartment at the inner transom.

Okay, found it. It was a leaking o ring from bell housing, black o ring in between housing had started leaking into shift cable housing pushing water back up into cable. New bell gasket and o ring fixed.
