Replacing helm/steering cable - Maxum Boat Owners Club

Hello all!

Im gearing up to remove / install the helm & steering cable on my 94 2000SC. I've sized up the job, read what I can get my hands on but I was wondering if anyone here has ever done a steering replacement, and if you have any tips / pointers / recommended # of cases of beer I should buy for the job :-)... etc.

This will be a "NFB Manual Rack" replacement, so anything specific to that would be greatly appreciated!

cyclerama...welcome to the zoo...unfortunately Mr. digg hasn't been back on to the site since his original post.....don't know why as we would have liked a report out of how his install went...

Well I just bought an older boat here in Vermont 1992 Maxum 1900SR and was told that the
steering has become stiff and was told by dealer when winterizing this past fall that I should have it fixed or replaced. Thinking of DIY job so if you hear of anything please let me know!
