Default outdrive bellows change

i have a bravo 3 and i am planning on changing the bellows this winter i have bought the merc book for the leg is this a job i can do myself i am pretty good with a hammer,is there any tips or anything to be aware of or should i just follow the book.

oh man.....you know...I'm pretty good with tools too...cars I've torn apart for yrs...but man...attempting to change the bellows out on a b3 drive is not in my resume....first off the drive is a really heavy unit....so be aware of that when you pull it....drain all the fluids associated ....then be ready to replace the coupler and bearings since your in there...check for water absorbtion in the transome and let dry out a few days before re-sealing that....it would be a good time also to clean up any wires and hoses that kinda look sloppy back there....let us know how it goes and post pic's...

Well i got the bill today for the following quiksilver gear oil,bearing assembly,various o rings,shift cable bellows,uj bellows.exhaust bellows,exhaust tube,waterintake hose,seal kit,fit trim senders(i bought) total 20hrs. labour($70hr) total bill inc. taxes £1268($2500) is this steep or what :?: i hope thats it for the next 2yrs with the leg,boat goes in tommorow if the transom leaks at least they will have to sort it,

you got off cheap.....at 109 bucks an hr for labor at my mechanic's shop....it cost me 2557.+ change to get my boat all working for the season....needless to say...I wasn't happy at all..but hey...we're now able to boat worry free for the season...(I hope :shock: )..

maybe tempting fate!!...but I did sacrifice several glasses of fine canadia whiskey to neptune!!....(drank it myself to make sure it done real proper like!! )
