Oil leak?

Hi under the winter i noticed some gear oil leaking from this hole when it's in the highest posisjon,i dont understand how this channel/hole suppose to work,does anyone know?

That the raw water weep hole to help drain down standing raw water. Gear lube showing up hear is typically a sign of the shift shaft seal leaking.

Hi thanks for answer, i have now pressure tested in the leven plug and it holds the pressure 9psi ok,will ut be necessery to do the same thru the drain plug also?

First 9 psi is to high of a pressure to leak test an outdrive, I believe the manual calls for about have that otherwise you risk damaging the seals. Second the drive should be completely drained to perform this test. You only need to test at one plug.

Ok thats okay,took down the lower unit today and discovered that the shift shaft seal had slided out off its housing so i think that the reason for the oilleak, do you know how i can change this housing, i read something about å shifter that must hold its posision.

When reinstalling the lower unit the gear shift must be in forward and well as the lower unit. Trick is holding the lower unit in forward by providing a slight pressure twist on the propshaft while installing.
