Default Maxum 2000SR bow damage

Hi all new to the forum and have a question.

I pulled my 2004 Maxum 2000SR out of storage and was cleaning it out for the season and noticed some cracks under the front seats.

I'm wondering how bad it is and how to go about repairing it if it is possible.

My idea was to use some fiberglass and put a new layer over to strengthen it up.

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you

Welcome aboard.

Any idea on what caused the crack?

Does it go all the way through to the outside?

Get a fiberglass repair manual for west system or similar. You'll need to remove all loose material and taper back from the crack then rebuild with patches of glass starting with a piece to initially cover the crack and adding bigger pieces as you layer it in. Probably 3 layers of glass.

Not sure what could have caused it, and some of it looks like surface cracking but won't know for sure until I start cutting it back

If it was me I would hire a professional unless you are well versed in fiberglass repair.

I have done some fiberglass and talked to my friend that has done repairs on boats before and it doesn't sound terrible to do.
Mi just don't have the extra money to bring it to a shop.

I have repaired a few, latest most successful repairs was with epoxy instead of fiberglass/resin. It sticks a lot better to old fiberglass, so its much less likely to delaminate over the years after the repair.
