Question Impeller gaskets

Hello, looking for some info on why I have a metal gasket for the impeller kit I just got and not the paper one that was on it now, can I use it. its the one under the metal plate, Alpha one gen 2, Maxum 23 sr,1996,5.7l

There’s a metal wear plate but the gaskets are still required. Can you post a picture of it? See link for kit.

I think it may be missing a gasket but the instructions say to use the metal one with sealer, don't know I never used a metal one

Looking at service manual #14 page 3B-6 it show the more solid gasket under the wear plate and the gasket with the parameter bead on top of the wear plate. These are the only gaskets shown. This manual is located under Documents of this site.

Thanks , is it okay to use merc perfect seal on the metal to case or should I use gasket maker

The gasket with the bead on it goes between the metal plate and pump housing. The other gasket goes under the plate to lower unit case. IMO applying perfect seal to either gasket is fine.

Thanks, Mike, talked to Merc Marine support and they said it's the right kit and that they now use metal gaskets for the base instead of paper in all the new kits, the perfect seal is good also on base to plate, thanks again for the info.
