Default gimble and bellow replacement

My boat was taking on water. I took it in and they said I need new bellows and a gimbal bearing total price 575.00 good deal? Also it idles fine but when I try to accelerate it spits and sputters. The mechenic said it was the fuel pump or accelerator pump. I think the fuel pump works or it doesn't. Any ideas?

Seapuppy,
What happens is it will idle fine sitting in the drive way with the muffs on. But as soon as I take it to the lake and take off it runs rough at full throttle and stalls. The mechanic said it have 3 pounds of fuel pressure. The fuel pump is electric. The engine is a very reliable 3.1

Sounds like fuel pump, that happend to me last year not all the time just occassionaly until one day it died completely in the middle of the river, what had happened is the electric fuel pump has a small nylon drive gear at the front inside and over time the fuel must have weakend this and caused it to break, unfortunately these are sealed pumps so cannot be repaired, and had to buy a new one,now runs like a dream.
