Default Brown Gunk in carb

I have a small amount of brown gunk in my 2001 3.0 carb. It's coming from the fuel pump via a flexible hose. I always thought this was a breather or vent line. Is this a sign of fuel contamination? I burned my fuel level down very low last time out so I may be getting stuff from the bottom of the tank.

The tube is a telltale sight tube that let you know if the fuel pump diagphram is failing. Marine fuel pumps have a double diagphram with the tube in between. What you are seeing is oil in the carb.

Time for a new pump.
