Default Bravo II Transom Collar

So the Aurora, my 1996 Maxum 3200, has been hauled out for her biannual maintenance and bottom painting and my mechanic found that there were holes in both Bravo 2 stern drive transom collars had holes behind the Mercruiser labels. Local shop want $3,000 a piece for new collars and $4,500 in labor (10.5K + tax) to replace.

Anyone else have experience this type type of repair?

Sorry, but that picture makes me feel better about the condition my drives were in...
I've been looking at Bravo parts all the time as I restore my 3200. You can usually find complete transom assemblies in good, used condition on craigslist and eBay anywhere from $500 to $1500. From what I've seen, that's often everything; gimbal housing, gimbal ring, and bell housing.

If the transom assembly is solid other than these holes you can install the plates from the swivel shaft repair kit from jr marine,

Instructions

I know folks who have used this to replace worn swivel shaft with great success.

JB Weld will seal the holes however if they have existed for some time the swivel shafts are probably bad which is why I recommended the JR marine solution.
