Default Bravo 3 seacore changing universal joints

My 2008. Maxum 2900se has 68 engine hours , this will be the 4 th full summer on the water , does anyone have experience on how long you should go before considering replacing the u joints in the drive shaft . There are no issues now , no vibrations .

If its not broken don't fix it....

As long as you grease the input shaft into the engine coupler, which had a grease fitting on it, and you have no water leaking into the blige from the drive bellows you should be fine.

Your car goes 100,000 miles, as the u-joints are self seal lubricated.

Hopefully, your mechanic has open the set screw at the bottom of the out-drive to check for water in the drive oil.

After four years, I would have the manifolds checked for leaks, as water could get into the engine....

I have had 3 boats and they all had grease fitting on the U joints. I pulled the drives and grease them every 3 years. If the U joints are bad they will make a noise when turning the wheel to either side. Besides checking for water in the gear lube I would have the bellows inspected for cracking.

If the drive has never been off it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have it inspected at some point but with just 68 hours I wouldn't worry about it much at all.

For reference, my '04 BIII drive has not had the u joints replaced and mine are not greasable. Nor have the bellows been replaced. Mine has about 180 hours on it.
