Default bow rail removal

Hi all, I have a bow rail on a 95, 18 ft maxum that one end has come completely out and I would like to reattach it. I have not found a way to get to the under side to reattach. Is there some easy way or do i have to cut a hole to reach my hand in. Thanks for any help at all

actually bout the easiest way would be to try and remove the back cusion and reach up into the gunwhale and tighten it..check to see if there is a good backing washers there to spread the stress.....

welcome to the zoo....

Is this the rail you need to fix?

I think you can access it from underneath when the seat cushions are removed. If not you will have to remove the side cushions like seapuppy said. If that is the case you may want to contact club member djsxr. He is restoring his 1994 1800XR and might be able to tell you the best way to remove the side piece.

Default bow rail rmoval

Thanks guys, that is the rail I need to tighten. I have removed the seat cushions, but cannot reach in high enough to reach the bolts. Is there a way to remove the seatback cushions. I don't know how they are attached. I just purchaced this boat and am attempting to fix up. I feel like a real DS and am very hany, just don't want to cause more problems. Thanks much again.

can you swing an extension in the space???....other than that ...taking off the cusion is your only option...

see if you have enough room to get a socket extension up into the space....may have to use a universal on the end...

good luck and let us know how you fair with this effort...
