Bird Droppings Damaging Vinyl Windows - Cleaning Advice?

Hi All,

I'm finding that after cleaning off bird dropping from my boat's vinyl windows (i.e. the strataglass/isinglass) using water, there's still a residue or etching caused by the acidic crap staying on the surface too long. Is that damage permanent or does anyone have advice for cleaning it?

Are there any products that would help prevent the damage in the first place, or is a cover the only solution? I've been using the 303 Clear Vinyl Protective Cleaner.
