Not a chance in hell. You install the bellows on the transom plate first (this can be done by hand but you must use bellows adhesive!), clamp it down (there is a small access hole in the side of transom plate so you can slide a screwdriver through to tighten the clamp), then apply adhesive to the drive end of the bellows and use the expansion tool to install. The rubber bellows is round an relatively stiff and the port on the drive plate is oval. The expansion tool is inserted through the port and then you grab the 2nd bellow back from the seal, squeeze the handle on the tool and it expands the bellow and distorts it to the required oval shape needed to slide over the port (be sure to slide the clamp over the bellows first). There is a locking pin on the tool that holds the handle in the compressed position so you can use both hands to work the bellows over the port and then tighten the clamp. Again, you need to use bellows adhesive. There is absoulutly no physical way of getting your hands behind the drive plate to distort the bellows and work it on to the port. I did both drives last year and could not have pulled it off without the tool. I also replaced the drive bellows as well. You can pull them without a tool (they do make one to remove the expansion ring) but you get a new ring with the new bellows so you can trash the old one pulling it out and no big loss. You must use the expansion ring installation tool to put the new one in. Also, 1 tube of bellows adhesive will easily do 2 drives. It is messy, gooey, stuff so have some acetone ready to clean off your hands when your done.
Good luck!
