Question 1995 2400 SCR fuel tank

I will try and get a picture of tank in the morning, but I thought I would ask the question early as someone might have the answer.
There is a brass pipe on my fuel tank and I am wondering what it is for?
It is next to the fuel sender/pickup and looks to be about 3\8 inch pipe that is capped off with what looks like a pipe cap.
Does anyone know what it is for?
I am thinking of trying to remove cap and see if I can get a sample of fuel from the tank.
Thanks for any and all info.
Don

I don’t believe my tank has this but some came with a fitting to connect a fuel line for a generator.

Does the connector look similar the fuel pickup for the engine? My guess is the tank was plumbed for a generator or twin engines. There should be a handful of access plates on the top of the tank. One should be for the fuel line to the engine. One should be for the vent. One should be for the fuel fill. The one with the wires is the fuel sender for the fuel gauge. Anything else will likely be for a generator or a second engine.

Good morning Mike & shrew.
You are correct and I was wrong!
Don't know who's boat I was looking at and saw a brass fitting on the fuel tank but it was not mine!
Getting OLD sucks!
IT does have what looks like another port for a genny or engine. looks to be a alum. plug in a welded fitting on top of the tank.
Don't think I am going to try and remove the plug as it is the original fuel tank.
Don't want any surprises.
Thanks for the help.
Don
