Default What built has my engine andmy boot???

I've bought a Maxum 2400 SCR and want to find out whether the engine is original. The boat is built in 2003. The engine is a MerCruiser V8 5.0 carburetor. Unfortunately, the serial number on the fire arrestor is missing. There is yet another place for the number? 2003 Still carburettors were fitted or just MPI? How can I find out what year my engine has?Click image for larger version

I don't know of any other place to find the mercruiser serial number but yes mercruiser sold carbureted engines in 2003 and in fact still does.

This is typically base engine on lower cost boats.

Serial number is stamped on a nameplate and riveted to the right side of the block at the bellhousing. You can do a S/N lookup on the Mercruiser site to very year. Sounds like it might be a replacement. Last year for a carburated 5.0 was 2001.
