Hello , need some help with a volt problem , getting only 10 v at idle , higher with higher RPMs , running like crap, new carb and batteries , new fuel filter , is the alt on the way out.??? or needs a good tune up. 5.7 260 hp 1997 merc
Does the voltage stay at 13V when returning to idle from higher rpm? If so this is normal for the self energizing alternator. Is this a change from how it operated before?
Runs like crap isn’t giving us much to go on. Does it idle ok, acceleration ok and achieve WOT? When was it last tuned up? How old is the fuel?
new carb install from dealer, they said it ran great ,but i can.t get it to go in gear without stalling, idle is fine for a while then it stalls no acceleration as it will not go in gear, it will rev when in just run with the button pushed in for a couple minutes but then stalls out, feels like a fuel problem ?? new fuel filter also and the gas looks to be clean with no sign of water,color looks a little yellow but put in 91 oc 10 gal on a empty tank.
